The violence of a plastic age...

Unused "waste" materials that inspire and provoke. They exist everywhere and nowhere. I believe that not only recycling, but critical perceptions of society become intertwined in my work. I not only reuse as many different kinds of materials as possible, I incorporate the ideals by which I live my life.

Art is, for me, a way to have a dialogue, a way to come into a debate,
a way to communicate. In my work the space of the project is just as important as the work itself. Asking questions like, "What is ownership?" "What is inside and outside?" "What is the space itself actually doing?" Take, for instance the border between inside and outside -- where, precisely, does it lie? In my work I let the viewer experience how far the border actually exists, or is perceived to exist. All of this I realize in a short-lived and timely way - like living lightly and efficiently, rather with a backpack containing only what is necessary for survival.

I leave it up to the audience to form their own interpretations.
The titles that I choose for my works are often descriptions of certain feelings which I personally take from them. These titles often remain
cryptic to the observer, which is the way I like it.


Het geweld van het plastic tijdperk.

Afvalmaterialen die inspireren en irriteren, die overal en nergens zijn.
Ik denk dat recycling en maatschappij kritische opvattingen wel steek woorden zijn in mijn werk. Ik probeer zo veel mogelijk materialen her te gebruiken, ook in mijn leef wijze en in de idealen die ik nastreef.

Kunst is voor mij een manier om in gesprek te komen, te communiceren. Site-specific. De ruimte is net zo belangrijk als het werk op zich Vragen als; Wat is bezit? Wat is binnen en buiten? Wat doet een ruimte?, spelen een belangrijke rol in mijn werk Neem b.v. de grens tussen binnen en buiten, waar ligt die grens? In mijn werk probeer ik de toeschouwer te laten ervaren in hoeverre die grens uberhaupt bestaat of bedacht is. Dit alles tracht ik op een vluchtige c.q. tijdelijke manier tot uiting te brengen. Licht leven het liefst met een rugzak waar alles in zit wat ik nodig heb.

De interpretatie laat ik het liefst aan de bezoeker over. De titels die ik aan het werk toeken omschrijven vaak een bepaald gevoel wat ik heb bij mijn werk, maar blijven voor de kijker vaak cryptisch, iets wat ik overigens niet erg vind.
